Nevada reports large casino profits
The latest reports of the Nevada casinos demonstrate that the profit from revenue for 2006 has increased by nearly 9 per cent in comparison with the previous year. The dollar amount of the profits for the year 2006 by the casinos accounted for 2.1 billion dollars, with the famous Las Vegas Strip accounting for over fifty per cent of it. The total revenue made by the casinos was a little more than $24 billion. The state obtained a cut of a little more than 928 million dollars in the form of gaming taxes and licenses.
In the casino, the slot machines are still the king of profits - accounting for more than 67 per cent of the total revenue. Poker rooms, even though most popular, have the smallest share of around 1.5 per cent.
According to some specialists, the numbers for the year 2007 will be even better. This could partly be because of the efforts of the American DOJ to rid of Internet gambling and bring the tax money lost to online gambling back to the pockets of the local brick and mortar casinos.
